Serendipity 238

"Serendipity" is my name for one-of-a-kind colorways that are usually unrepeatable.

Some of them are created accidentally while I'm testing new colors, so similar colorways might appear again in the future — but most Serendipity skeins are unique and won't be dyed again once sold out.

Rustic Silk
Approx. 430 m (470 yds)/100g (3.5oz) per skein

Fingering

Silk 100%

Gauge: 22 sts x 32 rows with US5, 3.75mm needles (Can be knit with lower gauge for lighter fabric for summer garments)

Rustic Silk is a 100% noil silk yarn, specially made in Japan for Mythica Fibers. It has a matte texture, a soft rustic character, and breathability that makes it ideal for spring and summer garments.

Though it may feel crisp in the skein, once knit and washed, it softens into a beautifully drapey fabric that’s light and gentle on the skin. I often wear garments made from this yarn on hot August days, even while biking under the sun, and they remain cool and comfortable.

In Japan, noil silk—known as "tsumugi"—has a long history as a casual, everyday fabric. While glossy filament silk was once restricted to the upper class, tsumugi became a way for commoners to enjoy silk in daily life. Today, it is appreciated for its natural charm, comfort, and quiet elegance.

This yarn reflects that tradition: understated, unpretentious, and meant to be worn and enjoyed. If you’re looking for a unique, breathable yarn that brings both cultural richness and practical comfort, Rustic Silk is a beautiful choice.

Due to the nature of noil silk and its production process, there can be small pieces of plant fiber found in the yarn.
